Volunteer FAQ

Where do I pick up my volunteer registration materials the day of the event?

Volunteer Registration is outside, on the plaza, at the Information Tent which is the first tent on the left as you face the Museum entrance.

Where should I park?

Volunteers are eligible for free parking under the Museum of History. You must have a parking pass to gain admittance.  Once you sign up to volunteer, a parking pass will be emailed to you.

Enter the parking deck through the Wilmington Street gate. Please be advised that Jones Street AND Edenton Street (between Wilmington Street and Salisbury Street) will be closed from 5:30 pm Friday through 7 pm Sunday. Traffic will be detoured around the State Capitol and back to Jones Street via the one-way streets surrounding the Capitol Square.

How do I get free lunch?

In order to be eligible for free lunch, you must volunteer for two or more daytime shifts.  Free dinner is available for all volunteers working the Evening Insectival (5 pm to 9 pm).

When is lunch served?

Lunch is served from 11 am until 3 pm in the Gold Classroom on the third floor of the museum for inside volunteers, and in the Museum of History for outside volunteers.
